THEIR YIELD

One olive tree typically produces 1L of EVOO, sometimes more depending on the year (chiefly due to the climate over the past year).

THEIR TYPE

Why do we blend different olive varietals? The short answer is: Because it makes for better EVOO.

Cold-pressing a blend of olive types into one EVOO produces a more balanced flavour profile. The different olive varietals also promote pollination of each other, helping the individual olive trees to flourish, producing better olives thus better EVOO for you!

Nocellara del Belice olives – give a luxurious “creaminess” to the EVOO, a fruity aroma, and  a gentle earthy, nutty flavour;

Biancolilla olives – give the most yield of EVOO, a fruity aroma, and a light herbaceous taste;

Cerasuola olives – give a robustness to the EVOO, a bold, peppery aroma, and add spicy bitterness;

Piricuddara olives – give you a taste of an olive varietal that is native to the Sicani Mountain region (it’s hard to grow at lower altitudes). They also help to pollinate the Nocellara del Belice olive trees. 

THEIR HARVEST

Olive harvesting season, La Raccolta as it’s called, starts in late October and continues through to January of the following year, because certain varietals may need more time to ripen.

The key to a superior quality EVOO is harvesting olives just as they're ripening and cold-pressing these olives within 24 hours.

Naturally, this is exactly what we do.

Each year of your ORO SICANI Olive Tree Membership you will have guaranteed access to 1L of ORO SICANI EVOO per tree in your olive grove.

So, if you have:
5 trees in your olive grove = 5L of ORO SICANI EVOO annually;
20 trees in your olive grove = 20L of ORO SICANI EVOO annually;
65 trees in your olive grove = 65L of ORO SICANI EVOO annually, and so on.

While your olive sapling/s mature (for ~3-5 years), we are excited to gift you our private harvest,ORO SICANI Amici Reserve 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil as your annual EVOO shipment.

Once your tree/s bear fruit (AKA, olives), each year thereafter in your ORO SICANI membership we will send you your special EVOO containing olives cold-pressed from your very own trees!
