Why's it so special?
This is probably the most unique EVOO you’ve ever tasted. It’s punchy and complex and unassumingly smooth around the edges – just like our beautiful Sicilia. We call this incredibly rare Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) ‘Amici Prima’ because it’s the first EVOO of the harvest season from our community’s lands in the remote Sicani Mountains of Sicily, Italy.
We also like the energy of “friends first” (its literal translation, albeit grammatically incorrect…whatever, it sounds cool) because it signifies first dibs, first in line, first priority.
How does it taste?
Amici Prima is a vibrantly rich, peppery blend with a bold, fruity finish. Expect a delightfully piquant jolt that warms the back of your throat and rounded citrus notes that swiftly follow.
Amici Prima is a coupage – a “maker’s blend” – of the best, most interesting olive varieties native to our secluded territory. In it you’ll taste:
• the unashamed pepperiness of the Cerasuola;
• the creamy, nutty notes of the Nocellara del Belice;
• the delicate, fruity aromas of the Biancolilla;
• the grounding earthiness of the Piricuddara, which is super uncommon and super specific to our hilly region because it only thrives at high altitude.
How should I use it?
This EVOO sings in dressings, marinades, and as a final drizzle to finish dishes. In our opinion, it’s too good for deep frying, you’ll want to savour it!

We are here to celebrate the skilled olive growers in our community and showcase the quality that comes from our breathtakingly beautiful and underrepresented territory. All ORO SICANI EVOO comes direct from our own lands or those of our amici (friends). We’re excited for you to experience it!

OUR REGION
We're in Sicilia, baby! ORO SICANI Estate is based in the south-western province of Agrigento, with the towns of Cianciana, Alessandria della Rocca, and Bivona all nearby. We’re approximately 1,550 metres above sea level, with Monte Sara and Monte Cavallo our most notable neighbours. The Platani River flows through the valleys of our region and out to the Mediterranean Sea, which we’re very fortunate to see from ORO SICANI Estate.
The sun is Sicily’s friend and we experience an abundance of sunny, often humid days, and chilly, rainy winters that are perfect for olive tree planting!

THE PROBLEM WE SEE:
The agricultural industry is rough in general, and even more so in Sicily. Not only are you battling cost of living increases and climate change-induced water shortages, there’s also fewer producers because the younger generation is leaving the small, rural towns to try to earn a better living in larger cities.
OUR SOLUTION:
‘Sustainability from the soil up’ is our motto. We adhere to regenerative farming principles and optimise every single component of our operations to be as environmentally-minded as possible. Because it is possible, it just requires more thought, sometimes more cost, and a lot of creativity.
It’s so important to us to contribute how we can.
